Jill Paton Walsh was born April 29, 1937, in London, England. She is considered one of England's most brilliant and perceptive authors for children and young people. She has written historical fiction, contemporary realistic fiction, science fiction, and nonfiction. She is also the author of well-received mysteries, realistic fiction, and short stories for adults.
